Booty God Booty

We all experience an inconsistency between fully trusting God and our identity. God says we’re His beloved child, but we see ourselves as shameful runaways. He says we are already famous, yet we live in insecurity.  God lovingly cleans up our brokenness, but we try to fix ourselves. God intentionally places us in uncomfortable circumstances, while we continually seek comfort. During this series we’ll take steps toward trusting God enough to let our beliefs line up with His.

One minute you’re listening to the latest Katy Perry song. Next minute you’re sending a shout-out to God in a quick quiet-time devo. Then you’re right back watching Jersey Shore. In this series, speaker Jon Acuff, blogger and author of Stuff Christians Like, offers illustrations that cut through the clutter of Christianity and gets to the core of trusting God. It’s hard enough sometimes to trust that God is who He says He is. It’s even harder to trust that we are who God says we are.

At IGNITE we talked about that God has Blessed each of us with a Burden. To live as Christians we must play our part to right the wrongs & serve others to know who Christ is.

To find your burden ask yourself these questions:

What Breaks Your Heart?

What Do You Care About That Others Don’t?

Once we discover our burden, we can’t just turn our head & walk away. We must take action.

We all want are lives to impact this world, why not make your life be an example that out last your life time?

Jesus’ desire is to bless you & allow you to play apart in helping resolve the needs of this world. Be real & seek Jesus! Pray, reflect & read the Bible but make sure you act on your burden.

Weird

If we are really following Jesus, then people are going to think we’re a bit odd or even weird. The choices we make, the values we have, the way we spend our time and even the way we talk will be different from everyone else. Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could go on living like everyone else. Don’t you or your friends miss a week of Weird!
